Our locations in the neighboring cities of Albany and Troy, New York, offer two distinct experiences. As part of the Sage community, you have the opportunity to learn, explore, and connect on both campuses.

Albany Campus

Albany, NY is home to the state legislature, state courts, and dozens of agencies that impact the lives of more than 19 million New Yorkers. Located downtown, the Sage campus is next to Albany Medical Center, Albany College of Pharmacy, Albany Law School, and the beautiful residential Helderberg neighborhood, rated as one of the best neighborhoods in Albany by Niche.

Troy Campus

Sage’s Troy campus is located in the beautiful historic downtown district and features brownstone-style housing. Around campus, you can enjoy the Theatre Institute at Sage, a professional theatre company, the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy Farmer’s Market, and so much more.

  • Dine on campus in McKinstry Dining Hall, where our pizza, pasta, salads, international selections, and more all have a focus on lean meats, whole grains, and vegan alternatives.
  • Lucille’s Café, located in the Shea Learning Center, offers grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, and even frozen yogurt.
  • Swing into BootLegger’s at 200 Broadway for your favorites from the grill.
  • Pair southern-style BBQ with a Hudson River view at Dinosaur BAR-B-QUE on River Street.
  • From the Philly to the Fire Bird and the Plain Jane, try a unique quesadilla combo at Muddaddy Flats on Third Street.
  • Slide into Slidin’ Dirty on First Street – the area’s food truck-turned-restaurant.
  • Get your caffeine fix (and a breakfast sandwich) at the Daily Grind on Third Street.
  • Family-owned-and-operated The Greek House on Third Street won’t disappoint.
  • Experience Moroccan cuisine or take a cooking class at Tara Kitchen.

  • Stroll through the Troy Waterfront Farmer’s Market, where more than 80 local bakers, chefs, and artisans sell fine, fresh goods.
  • Shop or dine downtown at Troy Night Out. Among the evenings’ many themes: Sage Night Out!
  • Baseball season in full swing? Catch a Tri-City ValleyCats minor league game at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium (also called “The Joe”).
  • See a show or tour the renowned Troy Music Hall (known internationally for its acoustics!)
  • Visit any of the city’s historic parks – Washington Park, Riverfront Park, Frear Park, or Prospect Park.
  • Get in the holiday spirit at the Annual Troy Victorian Stroll.

  • Get a taste of life at Sage with a slice from Sage Pizza, a made-to-order sandwich from Stacks Deli, or a plate of your favorite comfort foods from the buffet. The Kahl Campus Center Main Café has an option for everyone. (Ask about our Endless Eats meal plan.)
  • Hazel’s Café, located in the library, is stocked with perfect post-campus tour eats: coffee, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
  • Called a “sports fan’s paradise” and a hot spot for our Gators: Recovery Sports Grill on New Scotland Avenue.
  • Praised for its pizza and known as the home of Skip Parsons’ Riverboat Jazz Band, The Fountain draws locals and out-of-towners alike.
  • Eat in or carry out from the local Panera Bread, less than one mile from our campus.
  • Wood-fired pizzas, locally sourced ingredients, and a family friendly atmosphere make Restaurant Navona on New Scotland Avenue a perfect place to go with mom and dad.
  • Self-proclaimed sushi connoisseur? Check out Sake Café, also on New Scotland Avenue.
  • A deep-fried, late-night student favorite: Chicken Joe's on Yates Street.
  • Add even more zest to your visit at Bellini’s Counter down the street on New Scotland Avenue.
What to Do
  • Pick your own apples and berries, or stock up on cider donuts at Indian Ladder Farms – founded the same year as Russell Sage College in 1916!
  • Brush up on New York’s cultural and natural history at the New York State Museum.
  • Check the calendar at Times Union Center for year-round events ranging from the circus to NCAA championships and big-name concerts.
  • Browse the racks or see a movie at either of the area’s two great malls: Crossgates or Colonie Center.
  • Walk through Washington Park – home of the Lakehouse amphitheater, monuments, tennis courts, bike paths, and Albany’s annual springtime Tulip Festival.
  • Lace up your skates at the Empire State Plaza ice rink.
